Cartagena implements urban and beach infrastructure upgrades

Cartagena is undergoing significant urban and infrastructural transformations aimed at improving tourism and public spaces. In the Chambacú sector, recent developments include the recovery of the Espíritu del Manglar Park, the creation of the Plaza de Variedades, and the first stage of the Nuevo Chambacú project. Future plans for the area include the potential construction of a new District Cinematheque.

In the Bocagrande sector, the city has reopened and upgraded beaches 4 and 5. These improvements include wheelchair accessibility, new restroom facilities, massage areas, and a commercial plaza designed to support local entrepreneurs selling crafts and typical goods. Mayor Dumek Turbay indicated that these enhancements are part of a broader vision to expand access and eventually connect the beach areas with El Laguito.
