Cartagena issued yellow weather alert for storms and heavy rain
The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert for Cartagena due to the risk of intense rain and storms. The weather event is expected to occur primarily between midnight and 6:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, with the possibility of accumulating up to 15 liters of rain per square meter within a single hour.
In response to the forecast, the Cartagena City Council has activated municipal services in a pre-emergency phase. Local authorities have advised residents to clear roof gutters, clean basement drains, and avoid parking vehicles in ramblas or flood-prone areas. Additionally, public parks will be closed, and large trees will be cordoned off. The Local Police have identified several roads, including the N-301a and RM-F35, where drivers should exercise extreme caution.
