Cartagena political groups criticize municipal services and mobility plans
Local political groups in the Cartagena region are criticizing municipal management regarding urban maintenance and mobility. The Partido Cantonal has denounced the state of neglect and lack of cleanliness at Cala Cortina, a prominent urban beach. The party highlighted issues such as overflowing trash bins, dried-out vegetation due to malfunctioning irrigation systems, and broken infrastructure in parking areas, arguing that the current service levels are insufficient for the high summer influx of visitors.
Separately, MC Cartagena has voiced opposition to the municipal government's plan to implement 'blue zone' paid parking in Cabo de Palos and parts of La Manga. The party argues that the proposal fails to address underlying mobility issues, such as inadequate public transport and a lack of deterrent parking lots. They contend that the measure serves as a revenue-generating tool rather than a solution to increasing vehicle saturation in these tourist areas.
