Cartaginés defeats Olimpia 1-0 in Copa Centroamericana semifinal
Club Sport Cartaginés secured a 1-0 victory against Honduras' Club Olimpia in the first leg of the Copa Centroamericana semifinals at the Fello Meza Stadium. Joaquín Alonso Hernández scored the decisive goal in the 14th minute following an assist from Manuel Morán.
The match was marked by controversy when Olimpia's Yustin Arboleda was sent off in the 39th minute after a VAR review of an elbowing incident involving Diego Mesén. Despite the review, referee Bryan López upheld the red card, leaving Olimpia to play with ten men for the remainder of the match.
Olimpia must now win by at least two goals in the second leg to advance to the final. The return match is scheduled for October 28 at the Estadio Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
