Cartaxo begins 449,000 euro rehabilitation of GNR station

The Cartaxo Municipality has begun the rehabilitation of the local Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) territorial station. The project involves an investment of approximately 449,000 euros to address exterior degradation and improve the building's energy efficiency.

According to Mayor João Heitor, the project is part of an inter-administrative cooperation agreement between the municipality, the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration, and the GNR. While the State is providing 500,000 euros in funding, the municipality is responsible for the execution and supervision of the works.

The intervention aims to repair roofs, facades, and openings to resolve long-standing issues with water infiltration caused by the building's age and lack of previous deep maintenance. The works also include the removal of existing fiber cement roofing. The project is expected to be completed within 90 days, providing better conditions for both GNR personnel and citizens.
