Carter Bear shines in Detroit Red Wings Prospect Tournament opener

Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear delivered a standout performance in the team’s Prospect Tournament opener, helping Detroit secure a 4-3 shootout victory over the Dallas Stars. Bear, the Red Wings’ 13th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, recorded an assist on Jesse Kiiskinen’s second-period power-play goal and registered 10 shots on goal.

Following a successful WHL season with the Everett Silvertips, where he scored 36 goals, Bear is preparing for his first professional season. Grand Rapids Griffins coach Dan Watson noted Bear’s ability to play in difficult areas of the ice, such as the corners and net front. Bear indicated he is focused on the transition to professional hockey, noting the increased speed and the need to be smarter and stronger. He has been working closely with Red Wings development director Dan Cleary to prepare for the jump from junior hockey.
