CAS clears Agron Zeqiri of misconduct allegations

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled in favor of Agron Zeqiri, the former president of the Kosovo Swimming Federation (FNK), overturning a decision by World Aquatics. The CAS ruling dismissed allegations of discrimination, racism, nepotism, and abuse of position previously leveled against Zeqiri.

The panel found no irregularities in the actions of Zeqiri or the FNK regarding the selection process. However, the decision highlighted discrepancies in the selection of representatives for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. While the FNK proposed athletes Mal Gashi and Hana Beiqi, the names ultimately submitted to the Olympics were Adell Sabovic and Astrit Haliti.

According to the CAS findings, Sabovic had not been proposed by the FNK and failed to meet several relevant criteria, including a three-year residency requirement in Kosovo and membership in a local sports club. The ruling noted that Sabovic's connection to Kosovo was established shortly before the Paris 2024 selection process.
