CAS to decide 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title dispute

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) is set to issue a final verdict regarding the disputed 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Morocco. The controversy stems from the match played in January, where Senegal initially won 1-0 in extra time.

Following a protest where Senegalese players temporarily left the pitch after a penalty was awarded to Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) overturned the result in March. The CAF awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory by forfeit, citing the players' departure as an abandonment of the match.

The Senegalese Football Federation appealed this decision to the CAS. After a five-hour hearing in Lausanne, Switzerland, the tribunal announced that a final decision will be rendered within a few days or weeks. While the Senegalese federation expressed satisfaction with their defense, the Moroccan federation has remained silent on the matter.
