Casa Akina: A minimalist residence in Colima, Mexico

Casa Akina, a residential project designed by Di Frenna Arquitectos, is located in Villa de Álvarez, Colima, Mexico. The architecture focuses on a gradual disclosure of form, utilizing a central void to organize the spatial composition and encourage an awareness of light and the passage of time.

The design employs a restrained material palette consisting of board-formed concrete, stone, and breeze blocks. These materials are intended to interact with natural light, creating shifting patterns of shadow and changing tonal expressions throughout the day. The residence emphasizes a connection between interior and exterior spaces through courtyards, terraces, and large glass surfaces, integrating vegetation as a core element of the living environment.
