Casa Angamos coworking space inaugurated in Mejillones, Chile

Puerto Angamos opened Casa Angamos, the first coworking centre in the port town of Mejillones. The facility includes modern meeting rooms, multipurpose halls, public computers, a children’s play area and a café operated by local entrepreneurs. Built with a design inspired by early‑20th‑century housing, the space features universal accessibility and maximises natural light. Sustainability was a key focus: furniture was crafted from recycled plastic and reclaimed wood by the local Eco Carpintería workshop.

Richard von Appen, president of Puerto Angamos, said the centre aims to become a hub for new ideas and collaborations. Regional governor Ricardo Díaz and mayor Marcelino Carvajal praised the project for strengthening ties between industry and the community. Casa Angamos will be managed through a partnership with the Simón de Cirene Corporation under the long‑standing “Creciendo Juntos” programme.
