Casa de Poesía Silva launches national poetry contest on poverty
The Casa de Poesía Silva in Colombia has opened the call for entries for the National Poetry Contest, themed ‘La pobreza, exilio del mundo’ (Poverty, exile of the world). The initiative aims to use poetry as a tool to reflect on poverty, moving beyond economic statistics to explore the human experiences, emotions, and social realities behind the figures.
Participants are invited to explore three central themes: compassion, solidarity, and territories of pain. The contest is open to Colombian adults, including those residing abroad. Each participant may submit a single unpublished poem written in Spanish under a pseudonym to ensure anonymity during the evaluation process.
