Casa Flávio de Carvalho to host engineering restoration workshop

The Instituto Brasil Restauro, Arquitetura e Cultura is hosting a free educational activity at the Casa Flávio de Carvalho in Valinhos. Scheduled for October 21, the session allows students to observe the structural challenges and restoration processes of the nearly 90-year-old historical building.

Participants will explore the principles of reinforced concrete and the effects of time and moisture on structural steel. The visit focuses on the residence's unique concrete canopies, designed by architect and engineer Flávio de Carvalho, providing a practical look at how engineering preserves architectural heritage without altering its historical character.
