Argentina and Chile launch a series of free cultural exhibitions and festivals in August
In Chile, the Municipal Cultural Corporation of Ancud will host a free lecture on Chilote folklore presented by folklorist Cristian Yáñez on 1 August, and the University of Concepción will hold a colloquium on 11 August commemorating the 100‑year anniversary of textile artist Héctor Herrera.
In Argentina, several museums open free exhibitions: Córdoba’s Museo Caraffa, Museo Evita Palacio Ferreyra and the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Chateau unveil contemporary shows; the Museum Provincial de Bellas Artes in Paraná will display recent works at the Casa Nacional del Bicentenario in Buenos Aires; Buenos Aires also hosts a free screening with actress Cecilia Roth; Tucumán’s 21st Film Festival opens with a free premiere; Salta’s 30th Argentine Film Week runs 6‑14 August; San Luis province concludes its third “Noche de los Templos” celebrating religious heritage; and the Museo Barrio de Flores offers a guided city tour of historic municipal houses.
Additional cultural initiatives include a free postgraduate course on aesthetics in Tierra del Fuego and the upcoming inauguration of the Águeda Lozano Contemporary Art Museum and a new music conservatory in Chihuahua, Mexico.
