Casa Proeza marks first anniversary with Proeza Recebe exhibition in Rio
The Casa Proeza gallery in Rio de Janeiro celebrated its first year of operation on 25 July by launching the inaugural edition of the Proeza Recebe curatorial program. Curated by Cecília Fortes, the exhibition occupies the gallery’s second floor and showcases works by emerging visual artists who maintain studios in the city’s historic centre, including Andy Villela, Augusto Portella, Chiko, Daniel Frickmann, Fernanda Sattamini, Maria Antonia, Medusa Yonie, Ygor Landarin and others.
Proeza Recebe is presented as an experimental space for creation, exchange and collaboration among artists, the public and cultural institutions. The project aligns with the Reviver Cultural programme of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, whose secretary, Lucas Padilha, attended the opening. Organisers emphasised that the initiative aims to strengthen networks, give visibility to the neighbourhood’s artistic production and contribute to a renewed cultural identity for Rio’s historic centre.
