Casa Rosada press room ransacked, journalists report
Journalists accredited at the Casa Rosada, the Argentine presidential headquarters, reported finding their press room in disarray on Monday morning. Reporters discovered that several desk drawers had been opened and personal belongings were scattered across the floor.
While no professional equipment or computers were reported stolen, some food items, such as milk and yerba mate, were missing. The incident occurred over the weekend when the press does not have access to the building. The Federal Police and Casa Militar have been notified and are investigating the matter.
The event has reignited tensions between the government of Javier Milei and the media. Journalists, including correspondent Fabián Waldman, noted that security conditions have deteriorated since the current administration took office. They highlighted that previously, accredited journalists held keys to the room, whereas now, access and custody are managed by Casa Militar, leading to increased restrictions on movement and visibility within the building.
