Morocco approves tax exemptions for FIFA ahead of 2030 World Cup

The Moroccan Parliament has approved a comprehensive package of tax and customs benefits for FIFA and related organizations as part of the 2027 budget bill. These measures are designed to facilitate preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The special fiscal regime includes exemptions from corporate tax, value-added tax (VAT), and certain income taxes. Beneficiaries include FIFA, its subsidiaries, co-hosting entities, and CONMEBOL organizations, regardless of whether they are headquartered in Morocco. Additionally, income tax exemptions will apply to non-resident players, volunteers, and personnel relocated to Morocco for the tournament.

The provisions are set to take effect on January 1, 2027, with some measures remaining in place until late 2032. This initiative follows similar fiscal strategies previously adopted by host nations such as South Africa, Brazil, Russia, and Qatar.
