Casablanca Stock Exchange sees mixed performance amid weekly fluctuations
The Casablanca Stock Exchange experienced fluctuating performance at the start of the week. On Monday, the market opened positively, with the main MASI index gaining 0.36% to 18,932.65 points. This upward trend extended to the MASI 20 and the MASI ESG indices, as well as small and mid-cap stocks.
However, the momentum shifted on Tuesday. The market opened in negative territory with the MASI dropping 0.10% in early trading, followed by a full session decline where the MASI closed down 0.68% at 18,703.79 points. The MASI 20, representing the most liquid stocks, saw a more significant drop of 0.86%.
Sectoral performance on Tuesday was mixed. Engineering and industrial equipment saw the sharpest decline at 3.05%, while the chemical and real estate sectors also faced losses. Conversely, the electricity, distribution, and agri-food sectors showed resilience with modest gains. Trading activity exceeded 205.77 million dirhams, with CIH recording the highest transaction volume.
