Casalabate square to be named after poet Alda Merini
The marina square in Casalabate, located in Trepuzzi, will be officially named after the late poet and writer Alda Merini. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, at 11:00 AM.
As part of the dedication, a mural created by street artists Alessandro De Luca and Francesco Prinari from ‘Madline lab’ has been completed. The event will also feature a poetic reading by Rosangela Giurgola, president of ‘Spazio Teatro’.
The initiative is part of the ‘Progetto Cosmopolita’, promoted by the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. In coordination with the association Toponomastica Femminile, the project aims to address the gender gap in public toponymy, which has historically lacked female representation outside of religious or martyred figures.
