Casalbordino committee forms to oppose arms factory conversion

In Casalbordino, a new committee named ‘Disarmiamoci! Basta fabbriche di morte’ (Let's Disarm! No More Death Factories) has been formed to oppose the conversion of the former Esplodenti Sabino plant into an arms production facility.

During a public assembly attended by citizens, families of former workers, local administration, and various political and trade union groups from Abruzzo and Molise, participants expressed strong opposition to the move. Concerns raised include risks to worker safety, potential environmental contamination, and the economic stability of the region.

The committee’s stated objectives include the closure of the former Esplodenti Sabino site, the protection of current workers' jobs, and the pursuit of a civilian industrial reconversion that prioritizes environmental safety and local economic health over military production.
