Casalgrande commemorates assassinated socialist mayor Umberto Farri
The municipality of Casalgrande held a ceremony to commemorate Umberto Farri, a socialist and anti-fascist mayor who was assassinated in August 1946. The event, held at the municipal cemetery, marked the 80th anniversary of his death.
Beyond a traditional tribute, the commemoration marks the beginning of a new research and educational initiative. The municipality will collaborate with Istoreco to develop a program involving citizens and schools to ensure the preservation and transmission of Farri’s memory to younger generations.
Mayor Giuseppe Daviddi attended the ceremony alongside local officials, representatives from the PSI, and various institutional figures. Daviddi emphasized that Farri’s commitment to public services, healthcare, and education remains relevant today and serves as a guide for current administration.
