Casalgrande updates Children and Youth Municipal Council regulations

The municipality of Casalgrande has revised the regulations for its Children and Youth Municipal Council (CCRR) following its first year of activity. The changes, approved by the City Council on July 31, aim to make the body more effective, inclusive, and representative to better connect younger generations with community life and constitutional values.

The new regulations mandate a minimum of ten members. Candidates will include two newly elected students from each second-year lower secondary school class in the area—ideally one boy and one girl—alongside third-year students elected the previous year. Members will serve two-year terms until the completion of their first-cycle education state exams.

Key updates include new electoral methods where students can cast up to two preferences, and the introduction of peer tutoring. Under this system, students with at least one year of experience in the CCRR will mentor new candidates and assist with preliminary election operations to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and responsibility.
