Casalguidi political group files complaint over library budget management
The political group ‘Attiva – Movimento Civico’ has filed an official complaint with the Court of Auditors regarding the economic management of the ‘Eden’ municipal library in Casalguidi.
The group alleges that the municipal administration, led by Mayor Piero Lunardi and Budget Councilor Benedetta Vettori, committed serious budget violations. Specifically, they claim the administration bypassed the City Council to settle six months of unpaid rent for the library premises, which are owned by the Misericordia di Casalguidi and Cantagrillo.
The library's previous lease expired on December 30, 2025, but the municipality continued to use the facility for over six months without a new contract or allocated funds. A new agreement was eventually signed on July 3, 2026, following an inquiry by Federico Gorbi. To cover the period without a contract, the administration approved a settlement to pay the Misericordia 15,000 euros. The opposition argues this is illegal because the expenditure was not pre-budgeted and such ‘off-budget debts’ require City Council approval rather than direct executive action.
