Casalnuovo, Italy hosts Merenda nell’Oliveta olive festival on Aug 8

The town of Casalnuovo in Puglia will host the sixth edition of the “Merenda nell’Oliveta” festival on Saturday, 8 August 2026. Organized by the Associazione Nazionale Città dell’Olio, the event takes place in the Parco Unità d’Italia and highlights the cultural and identity value of the olive tree.

Visitors will taste the DOP “Dauno” extra‑virgin olive oil on classic bruschetta, as well as traditional local dishes such as chickpeas and pancotto, accompanied by live music from local artists. Mayor Pasquale Codianni said the festival helps preserve the town’s history, combat depopulation and promote quality‑based tourism. Casalnuovo, which joined the association in 2024, now has two active oil mills out of an original five.
