Casamicciola Terme approves safety works for Santa Barbara

The municipality of Casamicciola Terme has approved an executive project for the second phase of safety works in the Santa Barbara area. This intervention aims to consolidate the slopes upstream and downstream of the II Traversa Santa Barbara, an area heavily impacted by the November 2022 floods on the island of Ischia.

The project, valued at 1.55 million euros, focuses on reducing hydrogeological risk. Following geological surveys that suggested previous plans might narrow the watercourse formed by landslides, engineers have opted for a stabilization system using cortical nets and injected tie rods. This approach is designed to protect the slope from wind and rain erosion while preserving its current morphological configuration.
