Procon Florianópolis notifies Casas Bahia and Ponto Frio over delivery delays

The Municipal Procon of Florianópolis has notified retailers Casas Bahia and Ponto Frio to provide explanations regarding a significant increase in consumer complaints. Reports indicate that complaints related to product delivery delays have risen by approximately 80% in recent months.

The consumer protection agency has demanded that the companies disclose the causes of these delays, the total number of pending orders, and the current status of each demand. Additionally, the companies must present individualized solutions and specific dates for the effective delivery of products.

Procon Director Tiago Silva emphasized that the surge in complaints is a warning sign, noting that families are waiting for essential household items such as refrigerators and furniture. The agency has granted a non-extendable 48-hour deadline for a formal response. Failure to comply or provide adequate solutions may result in administrative proceedings and sanctions under the Consumer Defense Code.
