Casatenovo student critically injured by bus after first day of school

An 18-year-old student from Istituto Fumagalli was critically injured after being struck by a public bus in Casatenovo, Lecco, following the first day of school. The incident occurred in the early afternoon near via Manzoni and via Giovenzana.

Preliminary investigations suggest the student was attempting to catch a departing bus. While running along the road, the individual reportedly slipped near a curve and fell into the path of the moving vehicle. The impact was severe, throwing the student several meters and causing deep leg wounds and multiple traumas.

Emergency responders, including ambulances, medical teams, firefighters, and Carabinieri, attended the scene. Due to the severity of the injuries, which required blood transfusions, the student was stabilized and airlifted to San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, where they remain in intensive care. Local police are conducting investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident.
