Cascadia Credit Union seeks merger with Greater Vancouver Community Credit Union
Cascadia Credit Union, created on July 1 2025 from the merger of the Revelstoke, Summerland and Osoyoos credit unions, has formally applied to the British Columbia Financial Services Authority for consent to merge with the Greater Vancouver Community Credit Union (GVC). Both boards voted unanimously to pursue the merger and plan to hold a members’ vote in the fall, pending regulator approval.
Cascadia now serves about 16,000 members across the Columbia‑Shuswap and Southern Interior regions, employs more than 100 staff and manages roughly $1.1 billion in assets. GVC board chair Shaun Olafson said the two cooperatives share aligned values and the merger would expand services, create greater benefits for members and employees, and deepen community impact. The combined entity would continue offering savings, loans, mortgages, insurance and investment services through existing branches and satellite locations.
