Cascais allocates 1.8 million euros for student scholarships
The Cascais Municipality is allocating 1.8 million euros toward higher education scholarships for the current academic year. This funding aims to support approximately 1,200 students and represents a 50% increase compared to the 1.2 million euros provided in the previous year.
Mayor Nuno Piteira Lopes stated that the increase is intended to ensure more young people can pursue higher education regardless of their economic status. The scholarships are available to students residing in Cascais enrolled in bachelor's, master's, or professional technical courses at recognized public, private, or cooperative institutions.
Financial support amounts to 1,250 euros for students studying within the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and 1,750 euros for those studying elsewhere. Applications must be submitted via the MyCascaís platform between September 15 and October 16.
This initiative is part of a broader municipal investment in education, which includes 83.6 million euros earmarked for school renovations and new constructions between 2025 and 2028.
