Cascais hosts international film accelerator to explore AI

Cascais will host the first edition of the Open Cities Accelerator from November 2 to 10, an international laboratory designed to reinvent independent film production. Led by Joana Vicente and Jason Kliot, the initiative includes influential Hollywood producers and screenwriters to discuss the intersection of human creativity and artificial intelligence.

The program aims to address how AI will impact filmmaking, specifically regarding funding, crew sizes, salaries, and copyright. Organized by Open Cities International in partnership with the Cascais Municipality, the project seeks to help independent cinema develop large-scale fiction projects with sustainable budgets and access to new technologies.
