Cascavel council leadership change and Marília waste landfill inauguration boost local governance

In Cascavel, Paraná, councilor Serginho Ribeiro (PSD) assumed the interim presidency of the municipal chamber on Friday, stepping in while mayor‑designate Tiago Almeida (Republicanos) temporarily takes charge of the city’s executive branch for 14 days. Ribeiro, the first‑vice president of the chamber, said he will continue legislative work and maintain coordination between the executive and legislative branches.

In Marília, São Paulo, the municipal government inaugurated its first licensed construction‑waste landfill, a project championed by councilor Danilo da Saúde (PSDB). The facility, approved by Cetesb, aims to collect and recycle demolition debris, reduce illegal dumping, create jobs, and generate cost savings for the city.
