Cascavel resident legally barred from removing nesting vulture

A resident in Cascavel, Paraná, has been informed that she cannot remove a vulture from her apartment balcony due to environmental protection laws. Micaela La Falce, a ceramicist, discovered the bird had built a nest and laid an egg in her balcony's barbecue area after she returned from a ten-day trip.

La Falce contacted the Fire Department and environmental guards seeking to have the bird safely relocated to a natural habitat. However, officials from the Instituto Água e Terra (IAT) advised that interfering with the bird could constitute an environmental crime, as the animal is protected by law.
