Italy reports two tragic deaths of young children in separate incidents

Two separate tragic incidents involving children have been reported in Italy.

In Cascina, near Pisa, an 8-year-old girl named Zoe Mancarelli died following a traffic accident on the Tosco Romagnola road. The incident occurred on September 30 while she was crossing the street with her 78-year-old grandfather. They were struck by a vehicle driven by a 70-year-old man. Despite emergency resuscitation efforts and a transfer to the Meyer Children's Hospital in Florence, the child passed away on October 1. The grandfather remains in serious condition.

In Mogliano Veneto, a 1-year-old boy died unexpectedly in his crib. A 21-year-old babysitter, who is a nursing student, has been placed under investigation for manslaughter, a standard procedure as she was the only adult present. She reported hearing the child cry and attempted resuscitation before emergency services arrived. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of the child's cardiac arrest, as there were no known prior health issues.
