Cascina declares civic mourning after death of 7-year-old girl
The municipality of Cascina has declared a period of civic mourning following the death of 7-year-old Zoe Mancarelli. The child died after being struck by a vehicle in Titignano while crossing the road with her grandfather.
To express solidarity with the family, the municipal flag has been lowered to half-mast. On the day of the funeral, the Italian flag at the Town Hall will also be flown at half-mast, with local schools encouraged to follow suit. Additionally, a minute of silence will be observed at the opening of the next city council meeting.
Mayor Michelangelo Betti described the incident as a tragedy affecting the entire community, stating that the loss of a child leaves a profound sense of emptiness and sadness.
