Casement Park demolished in Belfast as Gramado hosts charity match
In Belfast, Northern Ireland, the demolition of the historic Casement Park stadium has been completed. Inaugurated in 1953, the venue was a significant site for Gaelic football with a capacity of 30,000. The stadium had been abandoned since 2013, and a planned renovation project was canceled by the British government in September 2024 after costs escalated from £77 million to over £300 million to meet UEFA requirements.
In Gramado, Brazil, the 8th edition of the ‘Lance de Craque’ charity project will take place this December at the new Arena Gramadense. Created by former player Andrés D’Alessandro, the event features a match between teams led by D’Alessandro and former Brazilian national team player Oscar. The new arena, which has a capacity of approximately 5,000 people, is expected to be completed in October.
