Inter Miami draws 2-2 with Columbus Crew as Casemiro scores own goal and Messi returns

Inter Miami hosted Columbus Crew at Miami's Nu Stadium in an MLS regular‑season match that ended 2‑2. Luis Suárez gave Miami an early lead, but Brazilian midfielder Casemiro inadvertently deflected a cross into his own net to level the score. Noah Allen added a second Miami goal, while Columbus equalised through Brais Méndez late in the first half.

The game also marked the first appearance of Lionel Messi for the club after the 2026 World Cup final. Messi entered as a substitute in the second half, drawing a huge ovation from the home crowd. Casemiro, who signed a contract through the 2027 MLS season, reiterated his admiration for Messi, calling him “one of the gods of football” during his presentation.

Inter Miami, the defending MLS Cup champion, remains second in the Eastern Conference and will next face Atlético San Luis in the Leagues Cup.
