Caserta community groups demand action on quarries and waste sites

Various civic committees and associations in the Caserta region, including Ambiente e Diritti Calpestati and Comitato NO CAVE, have issued a joint statement criticizing political rhetoric regarding environmental issues. The groups emphasize that the fight against quarries, cement plants, and waste treatment facilities requires legal action and technical scrutiny rather than social media propaganda.

They specifically highlighted the provincial denial of the Iuliano project and the suspension of the environmental authorization for the Moccia cement plant. The committees argue that these developments do not automatically conclude regional procedures and call for continued vigilance.

In a separate but related environmental concern, the Pro Ave Gratia Plena committee is calling on the Province of Caserta to provide a clear timeline for removing waste from the former Metalplast plants in Ailano and Campania Energia sites in Teano. While the Campania Region has allocated 4.2 million euros for these interventions, local residents are seeking transparency regarding the authorization processes and the impact on public health and local ecosystems.
