Caserta faces delays in reopening Carlo III underground parking
In Caserta, the reopening of the Carlo III underground parking facility remains uncertain. Although the municipality regained control of the approximately 900-space structure in September 2025 following a dispute with a previous concessionaire, the facility remains closed. Reopening the site to the public will require a formal public tender process to assign management, and no specific date for its return to service has been set.
In a parallel development, the Campania Region and Air Campania are evaluating the use of part of the parking area as a bus staging zone. This initiative aims to relocate line buses, tourist vehicles, and private coaches from Viale Ellittico and Piazza Garibaldi near the railway station to reduce traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety. Technical verifications are required before the project can potentially begin next autumn.
