An investigation by the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, has uncovered potential mafia influence regarding public works in the Caserta region. The inquiry focuses on a conversation from two years ago involving Costantino Garofalo and Graziano Pellegrino concerning the management of public greenery.

Investigators are examining a proposal to award a maintenance contract worth approximately 26,000 euros in Casapesenna to a company owned by Paolo Barone. The probe also touches upon the Zagaria clan, specifically looking at Filippo Capaldo, who is identified by authorities as the mafia heir to his uncle, Michele Zagaria. The investigation seeks to determine if illicit capital or organized crime interests influenced the procurement processes for local municipal services.
