Caserta Police seize waste truck in Santa Maria Capua Vetere

Provincial police of Caserta, led by commander Biagio Chiariello, stopped a waste‑collection vehicle on the road linking Santa Maria Capua Vetere and San Tammaro. During the inspection officers found the load contained mixed waste, including material classified as hazardous, in violation of Italy’s environmental code.

The driver, identified only by the initials C.V., was detained and formally charged with the illegal mixing of waste. The truck and its cargo were seized, and the company’s owner was cited for failing to supervise the employee’s activities. The operation was part of a broader series of traffic and environmental checks that resulted in numerous fines and additional vehicle seizures across the province. Police said the checks will continue in the coming days to curb illegal waste transport and protect public safety.
