Casey Stoner vows to fight for MotoGP return to Phillip Island

Two-time MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has expressed his intention to fight for the return of the Australian Grand Prix to Phillip Island. The circuit is set to be removed from the MotoGP calendar as the event moves to a remodeled track in Adelaide starting in 2027.

Stoner, who achieved a historic run of six consecutive premier class victories at Phillip Island between 2007 and 2012, described the move as a “great disappointment.” While acknowledging that the circuit requires some renovations, such as improvements to the pit area and general facilities, he emphasized the high quality of racing the track provides.

In a promotional video alongside fellow former rider Chris Vermeulen, Stoner stated he would work to ensure the venue remains part of the championship. The Phillip Island circuit has hosted the race annually since 1989, excluding periods of disruption, and remains a significant venue in the sport's history.
