Cash management regulations for small businesses in Poland
Small businesses in Poland must navigate specific regulations regarding the storage and transport of cash. According to a 2010 regulation from the Ministry of Interior and Administration, technical security requirements for storing money are tied to a specific threshold known as a computational unit.
This unit is calculated as 120 times the average monthly salary from the previous quarter. Currently, technical security requirements, such as specific safe classes, apply only when the amount of cash exceeds 0.2 of this unit, which is approximately 220,000 PLN. While many small businesses may not be legally required to use high-security safes, owners must still weigh the risks of theft against insurance coverage and potential financial losses.
