Casina: Two men reported for attacking farmer with spray and shotgun

In Casina, a long-standing family dispute over a right-of-way on a rural road escalated into a violent confrontation on August 15. A 44-year-old farmer was attacked while driving his tractor toward his fields.

According to local authorities, two relatives, aged 49 and 43, intercepted the victim. The 49-year-old reportedly climbed onto the tractor and sprayed an irritant substance into the farmer's face, causing respiratory difficulties. As the victim exited the vehicle, he was surrounded and beaten by the two men.

The situation intensified when the 49-year-old suspect emerged from a nearby residence brandishing a double-barreled shotgun and issued death threats. The incident was witnessed by two farm laborers who fled for safety.

The Carabinieri have reported both men to the Reggio Emilia Public Prosecutor's Office for aggravated threats and personal injury. The victim was treated at the Castelnovo ne' Monti hospital for injuries expected to heal within seven days. Investigations revealed that the 49-year-old suspect was already under a ban on possessing weapons and explosives.
