Casino de Viña faces lawsuit for 4,670 million peso unpaid jackpot
A former client of Casino de Viña del Mar has filed a lawsuit seeking 4,670 million Chilean pesos in damages, marking one of the largest consumer claims against a licensed casino in Chile's history. The legal action, filed in the Third Local Police Court of Viña del Mar, targets the operator Casino del Mar S.A., as well as its controlling entities, Casino de Chile SpA and Enjoy S.A.
The dispute stems from an incident on November 11, 2025, when a player allegedly won a jackpot of approximately 3,816 million pesos on a slot machine. While a supervisor initially congratulated the winner, management later refused to pay, citing a software error. The lawsuit alleges that technical staff manipulated and shut down the machine without following proper information preservation protocols.
The plaintiff is seeking 3,920,095,401 pesos for the unpaid prize plus interest, and 750 million pesos for moral damages. The lawsuit also includes the parent companies to prevent potential asset stripping, noting that Casino del Mar S.A. has already requested an early resignation of its operating permit, which is set to expire in 2028.
