Oklahoma legislation targets sweepstakes gambling legality

Oklahoma Senate Statement 1589 aims to change the legal status of sweepstakes gambling within the state. Effective November 1, 2026, the legislation seeks to exclude the twin-currency design—utilizing both gold coins and sweeps gold coins—that is currently used by sweepstakes gambling enterprises.

If the measure passes, these networks would be considered illegal to operate in Oklahoma. This regulatory shift follows various age requirements in other states, such as Alabama and Nebraska, where the age is set at 19+, and Mississippi, where players must be over 21.
