Casio and Huawei advance wearable health monitoring technology

Major technology companies are advancing the capabilities of wearable health devices. Casio has officially released the G-Shock GBX-H5600KI-5, a rugged smartwatch designed for sports and aquatic activities. The device features an optical sensor to measure heart rate between 30 and 220 beats per minute and utilizes Polar algorithms to analyze training and sleep data. It includes blood oxygen monitoring, a three-axis accelerometer, and 20-bar water resistance.

Simultaneously, Huawei is preparing to present new health-monitoring watches in Munich. Following a decade of research into physiological tracking, Huawei’s TruSense System can now monitor over 60 health and fitness indicators across six body systems. Recent developments from the company include sleep apnea detection and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, marking a shift toward devices capable of detecting physiological changes before symptoms appear.
