Casio launches G-LIDE GBX-H5600 with heart rate monitoring
Casio has expanded its G-LIDE collection with the launch of the GBX-H5600, the first model in the surf-focused line to include an optical heart rate sensor. Designed for activities near the ocean, the watch features specialized tools such as tide graphs, moon phase information, and sunrise/sunset data.
The device utilizes an accelerometer and an optical sensor to track physical activity, including distance, calories burned, and steps. To provide professional-grade insights, Casio uses algorithms developed by Polar Electro to process raw data into metrics for training, recovery, and sleep analysis. Users can manage these metrics via the CASIO WATCHES application.
A specialized version, the GBX-H5600KI-5, has been developed in collaboration with professional surfer Kanoa Igarashi. This iteration features a unique aesthetic inspired by the coastline of Ericeira, Portugal, and incorporates a lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced resin case back, reducing the weight by approximately 18g compared to previous models.
