Casona de la Danza to host free modern and afro-contemporary dance workshop
The District Institute of the Arts (Idartes) has announced a free dance workshop titled ‘Sembrar el agua’ (Sowing the Water). The event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Casona de la Danza in Bogotá.
The workshop aims to promote body awareness, physical health, and technical improvement in the performing arts. It will integrate techniques from contemporary dance, Cuban modern dance, and afro-contemporary dance, focusing on movement principles such as body alignment, contraction dynamics, release, and spatial management.
A second segment of the session will focus on creative research and movement exploration. This module is based on a four-year artistic process regarding water, memory, and territory, drawing inspiration from the Muisca myth of sowing water and stories from riverside communities. The workshop will be led by instructor Carolina Salamanca, director of the Compañía de Danza Fuerza Vital.
