Cassa Depositi e Prestiti raises Deposito Supersmart Open rate to 2.25%

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has increased the annual gross interest rate for the Deposito Supersmart Open from 1.75% to 2.25%. This change, distributed by Poste Italiane, applies to funds held in a Libretto Smart.

The product requires a 360-day commitment with a minimum deposit of 500 euros. While the funds can be withdrawn early, doing so results in the loss of the promised interest, leaving only a base rate of 0.001%. Unlike specialized lines for youth or pensioners that offer rates up to 3.25%, the Open version has no age or income restrictions, making it accessible to any adult holder of a Libretto Smart.

Investors should note that the 2.25% rate is gross. It is subject to a 26% withholding tax and a 0.20% stamp duty, and it does not benefit from the preferential 12.5% tax rate applied to other government savings products.
