Cassa Forense reports solid financial standing in 2024

The Corte dei Conti has approved a report on the 2024 management of the Cassa Forense (National Social Security and Assistance Fund for Lawyers), describing a solid economic and asset framework. The fund reported an administrative surplus of 1,858.9 million euros, a profit of 864.2 million euros, and net equity of 19.49 billion euros.

Despite a 1.6% decrease in total members to 233,260, contributory revenues grew by 2.7%. Financial management results nearly doubled, rising from 544.6 million to 972.3 million euros. Meanwhile, pension benefit expenditures increased by 8.6% to 1,119.8 million euros.

The report notes a contraction in the number of lawyers, with an average annual decrease of 1.2% since 2021. Italy maintains a high density of lawyers at approximately four per thousand inhabitants, exceeding the European average, though significant regional disparities exist between areas like Calabria and Valle d’Aosta. Average professional income has shown recovery post-pandemic, reaching 47,658 euros in 2023.
