Cassandra Manley enters Harrison Hot Springs mayoral race

Cassandra Manley has entered the mayoral race for Harrison Hot Springs, becoming the third candidate to seek the position. Manley, who serves as the chief administrative officer for the Shxw’owhamel First Nation, will compete against incumbent mayor Fred Talen and former mayor Ed Wood.

During recent council interactions, Manley advocated for infrastructure improvements, including the installation of a generator for Memorial Hall to mitigate frequent power outages. She also raised questions regarding the Emergency Operations Centre’s capacity to handle infrastructure needs during emergencies and suggested that the Halq’eméylem language should be included on the future community cenotaph.
